Reading can serve a lot of functions. Mostly, I use it to escape - for entertainment. I think that if you have an active imagination (and I do), books are even better entertainment than movies. You don't often hear anyone say that the movie was better than the book (unless the book was done from the movie instead of the other way around.
I also read to get information. I'm an information junkie. If I want to learn a lot about a subject in a relatively short time frame, I use a book.

A note to parents: NEVER deny your child a book they want!

The books below are books I personally recommend, loosely divided first by genre and then by author, and is generated only of course from books I've read. Realize that this means they might not be books you would recommend. You can build your own page for that if you'd like!

I have linked my site to Amazon.com to allow visitors to more actively pursue my recommendations. I actually prefer to refer people to buy books, rather than loan them out - because after all, authors make their money this way...and for most of them, it's not tons of it. So...go look at the description...and if you think you might like a book I've recommended, click on the title if it's a link and buy it!

The genres represented here are.......
